Last Day of Class and Final Grades
Hi Everyone,
The last day of class is a week away... I have been posting comments on your fotothing portfolio as appropriate. Please take a moment to review the "grading criteria... how am I doing" link in the upper right hand side of the page. I will be using this to do the final grades. I called the registrar's office to ask and the last moment I can submit grades is Monday morning, May 9th.
Check with the ADP office about deadlines for incompletes and withdrawals if anyone feels they need to do that.
If I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to call...

Projects 8 and 9
I just posted projects 8 and 9. I personally like the number nine much better. I used the letter N and had fun with finally using some color in the design. I liked changing it up and with both projects playing around with flipping and rotating and seeing what I got from it all. Hope you all are enjoying the spring weather!!!

Assignment number 6
So I did a kind of Swirly D this time and was MUCH happier with my product. I just posted them on my fotothing. Let me know what you all think!
Hello Everyone! (Next Assignment)
So I posted some of the "negative and positive space" projects on my fotothing but I will DEFINITELY be re-doing it because I don't like how they came out... but this was my first try and I will be putting up my second try once I get it all done. I have some thoughts already. I loved the examples on the syllabus but mine in comparison are not so great. I think I might make my letters bigger and choose a different letter because the Q didn't work out so well.
How are the rest of you doing with it?
Here is my link since I can't upload on here still.

FELLOW CLASSMATES!
Can I please have your fotothing names so I can look at your work as well! I would love to enjoy what you are doing as well!
New Post!
So I posted my new piece. I practiced first with the S, like our examples that were giving us. Then I made one big piece with an "L". They are so pretty and if I wasn't told how they were done and just came upon the picture I wouldn't even know that it was a letter making such an intricate design. I hope you all had fun too!

That is the link to my fotothing. I am having a hard time uploading pictures to the blog so please click on the link to see the newest project as well as my others! Thank you!

Academic Expectations
Academic Expectations:
Post at least twice a week to the class blog. Care about the quality as well as quantity of your creative work, help and collaborate with others in the class, communicate openly with me…. Do your best. Your portfolio posted toFotothing will be the tangible evidence of your progress in the medium but your overall contributions will play a role in determining your grade as well. Don't wait until near the end, then try to get your work done in a rush... that's like skipping class all semester. A minimum of 50 projects posted to your fotothing account is suggested. You may keep working on earlier assignments until the end. You may replace earlier work with newer work you like better. Your final grade is based on "The Big Picture", that is, how well you have tried to understand the assignment and worked to create pieces reflecting the spirit of the task at hand, your progress in the medium, your contributions through posting comments on other's work on the class blog as well as on fotothing. Effort counts! Qualtity as well as quantity count!

Hello! I revised my first project... I also have projects two and three done, but fotothing only allows ten uploads per 24 hours so I will be getting them up in the next two days! Hope everyone else is going well! I really enjoyed the second project's end results. Very Fun.

Videos
Each project has a video to lead you through it step by step. All are in the syllabus under each project. Inc ase you missed it, the first video for the dots assignment is here:
http://jnevins.com/project1.htm
http://jnevins.com/project1.htm
Play it through to get an overview then play it and pause it while you do what I demonstrated... play it some more, pause it, etc... You can't go wrong... Once you learn how to do the project, make it your own by finding your own solutions. I am looking for you to do at least 6 variations of each project, posted to fotothing. Post one version here and invite the class to see your work on fotothing by posting your screen name there.

Hello Prof. Jerry,
I have completed dots 1-5 and posted on fotothing. I had to download photoshop elements 9 cause CS5 was not working properly and I found it easier to use anyway. Thanks.

Welcome to Class!
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Two Dimensional Design. The class revolves around creating a portfolio of images in either Adobe Photoshop (either Elements or the full version) You can download a free trial of Photoshop that is good for 30 days at http://adobe.com/downloads… just download Photoshop CS5 extended, not the whole suite or Photoshop Elements 9. You’ll have 30 days for each and that will take you to the end of class… if you prefer you can get Elements at a big box store like Costco or B.J.’s, or Best Buy (maybe even Target) for around $80 and own it outright for good… Another possibility is to buy a previous version like Elements 6 on eBay for around $10 or less (good forever)… but while you are waiting for it to arrive, download the trial from Adobe so you don’t fall behind. I found Elements 9 for $63 including shipping here: http://www.costcentral.com/proddetail/Adobe_Photoshop_Elements/65088255/11207298/froogle/
The first week will be about getting up to speed in creating your accounts and getting your software image editing program working. We will also start small with the first project listed on the syllabus... The Dot.
I don't use campus cruiser for my online classes as it isn't equipped to handle visual portfolios and blogging. Moodle isn’t much better. I host the syllabus on my website, http://jnevins.com. Take a look around there to look at my teaching philosophy, syllabi, portfolios of my own work, tutorials and more...
Here is a link to the syllabus for this class: http://jnevins.com/twodimensionaldesignsyllabusonline.htm
There you will find links to each project, the class blog and the class online portfolio at http://fotothing.com
Important!.... click on the link In the email I had blogger send you it will be from Jerry (me)... There are instruction on creating an account at blogger and joining the class blog... you don't need to create your own blog... just join the class one.. Here is a link to the blog:
http://mod2twodimensionaldesign.blogspot.com/
Also go to Fotothing.com and create a free account....post a picture... any picture and post your fotothing name on the class blog so I can find you... I will then add you as a "friend" (class member)....If you have a fotothing account from digital photography, you can continue to add to that….
Download and install your image editing program...
